In-House Labs

In-House Labs Q & A

What are in-house labs?

In-house labs are diagnostic tests that Dr. Lopez and her team offer to detect or rule out certain health problems. Having labs available in-house can save you time, as you don’t have to travel to another site to complete blood tests or other diagnostic procedures.

Which in-house labs are available?

A few of the many in-house labs available with Dr. Lopez and her staff include:

  • Spirometry lung function tests
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) heart screenings
  • Hearing and vision screenings
  • Hemoglobin A1C diabetes screening
  • Lipid screenings
  • Bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis testing
  • H. Pylori testing
  • Mono tests
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Strep and flu tests
  • Pap smears

Lab tests might involve placing electrodes on your chest to measure your heart’s activity (EKG), blood tests, urine tests, or a throat, nasal, or vaginal swab.

These diagnostic tests help Dr. Lopez diagnose medical problems and develop personalized treatments to reduce your risk of complications.

Which in-house labs are right for me?

To find out which lab tests are needed to detect or rule out health issues, Dr. Lopez reviews your symptoms and medical history.

She completes a physical exam, which might include a pelvic exam and Pap test in women. Lab tests might be necessary if you’re at risk of or experience symptoms of:

  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Heart problems
  • High cholesterol
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • Infections or other illnesses

Dr. Lopez only recommends lab tests you actually need to save you time and money.

What happens after in-house lab tests?

Lab results might be available almost immediately after swabs, EKG, urine, or pregnancy tests, or take a day or two after a blood test. When your lab results are ready, Dr. Lopez discusses them with you to let you know if treatment is necessary.

Medications and lifestyle changes are simple treatments that help manage many illnesses and diseases, reduce unpleasant symptoms, and lower your risk of complications.

The next time you or your child is due for a wellness exam or experiences unusual symptoms, schedule an appointment with Dr. Lopez and her team over the phone or online to find out if in-house labs are right for you.
